You can take Eclipse from my cold, dead hands. Oh, wait, it crashed again. I guess you can take it.

Seriously though IDEs aren't the devil that some programmers make them out to be. The real shame is that the best IDE out there only works in Windows and only with MS products :)

At work, I had this issue recur. Perhaps there is some sort of Centos curse. In any event, this time, I had to ferret out a new version of VimBall from the authors site: http://mysite.verizon.net/astronaut/vim/ That version (v33) is much newer than the vim.org one.

FWIW, your code shows the Levenshtein between "a" and "b" is 0. It should be 1.

I have not been using this setup as of late. I had a mac book pro from work, but I've evolved to using my Windows 7 box and a combination of virtualbox, e (windows clone of TextMate) and putty/winscp/filezilla. Most my new test environments I prefer having run more like the production, and few people admin Snow Leopard Servers so between a nix and windows 7, I choose the one with the best games. If you tell me more about when the error arises, that could help me figure it out. Your main issue is going to be repairing the boot process if your snow leopard is running properly. See if you can use a nix repair disc or windows repair disc. Also, if you changed your SATA drive settings, you may have used one different than windows is expecting, which will definitely cause it not to boot, even if the boot sector is repaired.

Check out, this Levenshtein Distance gem. It uses Ruby C extensions to make it really fast.
